Miley Cyrus MegaRant: Perez Hilton in Upskirt Photo Uproar and She Says "I'm Not Trying to Be Slutty"

A lot of Miley news out there, most of it ridiculous, but I figured it deserved some notice.

First off, Perez Hilton has really put his foot in it this time.

The gossip blogger has incited an uproar after he posted a picture of Miley Cyrus getting out of car and accidentally flashing her naked crotch. Besides being ridiculously inappropriate, there are legal ramifications, since Miley is only 17 years old, which would mean the photo can be considered child pornography.

The self-proclaimed (and falsely proclaimed) Queen of All Media posted a video on his popular website as an official statement about the picture, which he took down quickly after putting it up. In the video, Perez uses the "would I be that stupid" argument to explain his actions. He also uses it for Miley, claiming she wouldn't be so stupid to walk out the house without underwear on, and that her underwear can be clearly seen in another paparazzi photo.

It really was a non-apology, since Perez employed ridiculous amounts of sarcasm, even teasing a possible nude crotch shot of himself while wearing a fake fur coat.

In the video, he asks if he would be so stupid to post these photos up.

Um, yes he would.

This is the same guy who stupidly called will.i.am a faggot, resulting in him getting socked in the face. He also stupidly accused Michael Jackson of faking his heart attack to get out of his tour, minutes before the King of Pop died.

So, yes Perez, you would be that stupid.

He also claimed that he loved Miley Cyrus. That's funny, since he makes a big, fun day out of calling her virtually every name in the book, including the crown jewel, "Slutty Cyrus".

Give me a break.

Speaking of being slutty, Miley (who hasn't commented on the Perez situation) recently explained her new raunchy image with this quote:

"I'm not trying to be slutty. I'm not trying to be like, go to the club and get a bunch of guys...What I'm trying to do is make a point with my record and be consistent, in the way my record sounds and the way that I dress".

Newsflash, Miley. Yes, you are trying to be slutty!

While her album is called "Can't Be Tamed", I can't imagine anything on the album that requires her to look like a Britney wannabe on the cover, have a sexless bird orgy in the video, have a faux-makeout session with another girl on Britain's Got Talent, and ride a pole on top of an ice cream truck at the Teen Choice Awards. It's absolutely absurd, and terribly transparent. She is trying to garner attention for herself and break the Hannah Montana image that has made her millions of dollars.

It's not the first time she has made a statement like this one. Just recently, Miley said that she doesn't listen to pop music, except for Lady Gaga. Another newsflash, Miley. You make pop music! You've called Britney and Beyoncé your idols, and they make pop music!

This girl needs a reality check about her career, before she heads down the path paved by Lohan.

Is Zac Efron Growing Up With Charlie St. Cloud?

A few days ago, I stumbled upon the official trailer for Charlie St. Cloud, the new movie starring High School Musical star Zac Efron. I had seen a TV spot for it during the MTV Movie Awards, but I was so zoned out how much of a mess that was that I wasn't really paying attention.

When I finally decided to sit down and watch it, I really wasn't expecting much of anything. It wouldn't have surprised me if it sucked royally, or if it turned out to be pretty good.

Turns out, it's a bit of both.

From what I gathered from the trailer, Charlie St. Cloud is ultimately a Nicholas Sparks movie, not written by Nicholas Sparks. It's about this teenager Charlie St. Cloud (Efron) who has to live with the guilt of his kid brother's death, which includes seeing his lingering ghost. Charlie made a promise to his little brother that he would play baseball with him every day before he heads off to college. So, that is what he ends up doing. That is, until a pretty young girl enters his life and he falls in love. The struggle between his little brother's ghost world and the world of love is central to the film.

Speaking on the plot, it sounds like it teeters on the thin line between terribly cheesy and touchingly profound. I mean, child death is never easy, and seeing how a teenager deals with it has promise, but the whole "healing through love" aspect threatens to drive the film into weepy Kleenex territory.

I'm particularly interested in the acting part, though. Since watching 17 Again, I believed that Zac Efron might just be able to break that Disney bubble and break into the mainstream before it all collapses on him (á la Hilary Duff). From the scenes in the trailer, especially dealing with his brother's death, it seems like Efron might finally have a role he can show his acting abilities in.

Video Premiere: "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus (Plus, Her Live Performance Screwup!)

So, on Thursday, Miley Cyrus premiered the video for her new single "The Climb", and I gotta tell you, I had the same reaction that I had to Westlife's "Something Right" video: "wow, this is a really cheap looking video!".

Seriously, everything about it is CGI-ed to hell. That being said, Miley looks very good when she has her hair up. She should remember that look.

Speaking of remembering things, Miley seemed to suffer lyrical amnesia on UK variety show Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, where she performed "Fly On The Wall". A minute in, she forgot the lyrics and actually stood there for seconds until she could remember.



At least she didn't do a hoedown dance.

Song Review: "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus is many things to different people (most likely depending on your age), but "respected singer/artist" is not usually listed.

It seems the Disney tween queen is trying to change that with her new single from Hannah Montana: The Movie, "The Climb". Unlike the mid-tempo rock of "7 Things" or the bouncy pop of "See You Again" or "Fly On The Wall", Billy Ray's daughter is aiming at her subjects heartstrings with a teary-eyed, inspirational power ballad, her first real one.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure anyone told Miley that teary-eyed, inspirational power ballads should be left for those who have the vocal chops to sing them.

The song itself is quite good. Refreshingly, its not about boys, relationships, or being yourself despite what everyone else wants. It's about struggle, and how it will always be there no matter what the situation is, and at end, the struggle is all that matters. Considering her past material, its surprisingly mature and thoughtful. Musically, its a typical pop/rock ballad. The song starts off soft with only a piano. It kicks up a notch with the guitar, leading to the climatic power ending. Considering the lyrics are about "climbing", its an appropriate and even effective arrangement.

So, it's a good song. Well, almost...

Miley Cyrus isn't the greatest singer in the world. In fact, she is sub-standard on her best days. A song like this requires vocal abilities far beyond her reach, in the level that Mariah, Leona, and hell, even Katy live in. While she does put effort into her performance, it falls short of elevating the song to the brilliance it probably deserves. Like her ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas, Miley stretches her voice to match the music, which does nothing for her at all. While not terrible, it's simply not good enough.

Good news: "The Climb" is a mature, sensitive song that proves that Miley has some songwriting capability. Bad news: She can't sing said song well. So, it's a 50/50 break.

P.S.: Expect this to be played at every teen dance for the next 6 months.

Video Premiere: "Get Back" by Demi Lovato

Camp Rock star and Jonas Brothers touring buddy Demi Lovato premiered the music video for her new single "Get Back", from her upcoming album Don't Forget:



New York is a great backdrop for music videos, so I thought it was a smart choice to use it as the setting. That being said, I'm sure Disney could've been a little more creative. I mean, why couldn't she run around NYC or something? I mean, she's just singing on a stage. That's a concept they should've saved for later. This video doesn't really do much for her, although she does look very pretty.

She definitely has some pipes, moreso than any Disney queen ever (yes, I include Lindsay and Hilary in that wrap-up). It's just that their wasted on an oversaturated genre (teen pop/rock) and a really subpar song.It's, quite frankly, a blatant "S.O.S." rip-off. For someone who can actually sing well, she deserves better material (word of advice, don't let the Jonas Brothers write stuff for you ever again, Demi).

UNBelievable! Dr. Phil Calls For Jonas Brothers/Hannah Montana Addicts!

Apparently, OJD (Obsessive Jonas Disorder, according to the fans) is a legitimate illness.

Enough so that Dr. Phil is calling for parents of children who are obsessed with the current album chart-toppers and Hannah Montana, both under the Disney umbrella. This is the official release:

Me To Miley Cyrus: Quit The Attitude!

OK, Miley Cyrus, we get it. Your role on Hannah Montana is huge. Your album Breakout just sold 377,000 copies in one week. You have the adoration of millions. That doesn't mean you get to act like a bitch.

Especially when that person, a) gave you her song to record and b) was just making a joke

Katy Perry said that she would like to recreate the now legendary VMA kiss between Madonna and Britney Spears with Miley at Teen Choice Awards, to go with her 6-week #1 single "I Kissed a Girl".

Miley, in response, said this t0 E!'s Marc Malkin: ""No thanks. She sang on my record. So I think she's kind of getting back at me, because she was doing harmonies and backgrounds."

Let me get this straight: Miley thinks Katy made a JOKE because she was jealous?

Get over yourself!

Katy, from what I've seen and read, is a very nice, down-to-earth person. She was making a joke. I don't see why she has to take a little joke to that level of cattiness.

Katy, oh so awesome, responded like so to Perez Hilton: "6 weeks in a row at number one."

This isn't the first time Miley has ruffled some feathers. Last week, she put up a video on YouTube making fun of fellow tween queens Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato. Miley later apologized, sort of.

Miley, here's some advice. When half-naked photos of you are being leaked every other week, you REALLY shouldn't bitch out to anyone else. Its as unbecoming as seeing you with your "boyfriend"'s hand halfway down your pants in ANOTHER leaked picture!

Show some class!

UNBelievable! Miley Cyrus Sells 205,000 In Three Days!

Miley Cyrus may be looking at Coldplay-style debut this week.

In the race for #1 this week, Miley is kicking Sugarland's ass. In only three days, nine of the biggest merchants in the industry have her at 205,000 copies sold.

Holy crap.

I guess everyone has underestimated the tween demographic's buying power.

What makes this all the more surprising is all of the controversy surrounding her, including the racy photos and the Vanity Fair cover.

If Miley is selling this much, than the Jonas Brothers are a lock for #1 in two weeks.

Who's Better Live: Demi Lovato or Miley Cyrus?

I have seen a few things online saying that Demi Lovato, the star of Camp Rock, is much better a singer than Miley Cyrus, TV's Hannah Montana.

For me to decide, I found a live performances from both of them to compare. Demi was on Regis and Kelly today, singing "This Is Me". Miley was singing "See You Again" at the 2008 Disney Channel Games.

While Demi does seem to have a better voice than Miley's, her performance was borderlining on bad. Vocally, she was all over the place, and she hit many flat, cringeworthy notes. She definitely needs a vocal coach to help control her voice. Miley definitely wins with stage presence. For a 15-year old, she knows how to work a crowd like a pro. Her voice isn't terrible, but it sure as hell isn't Faith Hill (the LA Times compared her song "7 Things" to her).

Based on these performances, I have to give it to Miley as the better performer.

Nick Jonas Gets Emotional At Toronto Concert

Okay, I'm a bit of a sap.

I love it when artists get emotional during their concerts. Whether they're filled with unbridled joy (Whitney Houston in South Africa in '94) or they take a moment of solemn reflectiveness (Michael Jackson after a ballad during a tour), the concert-going experience becomes all the more personal when the performers open up past what the song requires.

While I have yet to resolve my like/dislike relationship with the Jonas Brothers, I couldn't help but feel a little heartstring tug when, at the end of a performance of "A Little Bit Longer" during the first show of the "Burnin' Up" concert, Nick had to stop the song and place his head on the piano to hide his presumable tears.

I definitely can understand why he would lose his composure, considering "A Little Bit Longer" (which, when its released, may become their highest rated song on this blog) is about dealing with his Type 1 diabetes. Also, when you have thousands of girls obnoxiously screaming during a song that is his most personal, it can become overwhelming. Let's not forget he is still 15, even though he is pretty much a pop star.

It's always endearing to the cynics of an artist to see them emotionally connect with their audience; it's a sign of their longevity and it shows the thought they put into the song they're performing. Knowing how important the song was to Nick, this is just further confirmation.

TV Review: Camp Rock

Early on in my blogging career, I wanted to investigate what made Disney-related music, TV shows, and movies so insanely popular. It was one of the reasons why I decided to take my time reviewing Camp Rock, "starring" insanely popular teen sensation Jonas Brothers. I wanted to make sure I accurately criticized this TV movie.

After reading numerous reviews and watching the film live on ABC this past Saturday, I am ready to deliver my opinion of the latest DCOM.

Acting
Now, I wasn't expecting Oscar-worthy performances, but I was at least hoping for some kind of delivery that wouldn't have me rolling me eyes. Let's start with the leading male, Joe Jonas. The one thing I noticed was that his acting was really limited to scenes that didn't require a clear-cut emotion. I found myself rolling my eyes when he was playing angry in the limo or upset when he confronted Demi Lovato's character on her lies. However, things were much less awkward during the low-key scenes, like when Shane sang his song to Mitchie on the pier. He came off more natural and believable during those moments, and they were definitely more enjoyable. Demi Lovato, who played lead character Mitchie, was surprisingly good. Even though there were parts of her story that were absurd, I never once lost sympathy for her. It was probably that blinding smile, which flashed at least 200 times during the film. It's rather ironic that while her character pretended to be fake, Demi's portrayal was one of the realest of them all. The other notable was Alyson Stoner, who played Mitchie's friend Caitlyn. She played the cynical aspiring music producer very well, so well that I wondered why she didn't have the Disney package (album, TV show, her own movie). The other performances were subpar, at best (among the teen actors, anyway). Meaghan Jette Martin, who played Camp Rock bitch Tess Tyler, was pretty stale, often being upstaged by her co-stars. Her scene toward the end, when she ran backstage after messing up in front of her mother and started crying, was painfully bad. As for the other Jonases, I enjoyed Kevin's character the most, but I'm not sure whether that was the acting or the writing. Nick wasn't acting at all; his character was very serious and collected, much like his own personality. Not much of a stretch.

Writing
The movie, in my opinion, suffered immensely in this area. Whether it was the basic plot or the lines the characters spoke, the writing all seemed contrived and awkward. There were many holes and a lack of development that disrupted any enjoyment the movie could've delivered. For example, Peggy (Jasmine Richards) breaks free from the clutches of Tess and performs at Final Jam, eventually winning the whole thing. But where is her story? Why did she feel she wasn't good enough to go solo in the first place? Why did she let Tess (who really sucked) outshine her? I get the movie was focused on Mitchie, but there could've been a subplot about Peggy. Hell, it could've intertwined with the main story. It was these types of discrepancies that didn't exist in HSM that made the movie difficult to relate to if you were older than 15. It is surprising (and disappointing) that Julie Brown helped write this film, because it wasn't very smart.

Then there were the lines. I'm surprised that the actors were able to keep a straight face saying some of these things. Consider Shane's response to Mitchie saying she liked his song: "Wow, you really know how to make a guy feel better." It would've been okay if he was being sarcastic, but he was being sincere! Such an eye-rolling moment. To be fair though, there was some cool (even quite clever) writing in the film. Whoever wrote Kevin's lines deserves an award, because he was hilarious (again, either it was acting or writing, not sure which). By the middle of the movie, I wanted him to get that birdhouse!

The plot was rather formulaic (as noted in other reviews) and predictable. Mitchie, who's attending Camp Rock because her mom agreed to be a cook, lies about who she is to fit in. Her lies eventually catch up with her, just as she gets closer to bad boy popstar Shane Gray, who was sent to the camp to rehab his image. He gets inspired by a girl singing (Mitchie) to write music not typical of his band, Connect Three. He runs around the film trying to find her, never realizing that the girl he's been canoeing with or serenading on docks to was her. Anyway, things go sour when Mitchie's lies are revealed, and they get worse when Tess (the movie's Sharpay) sets her up for theft, which bans her from the Final Jam celebration. She does get to sing, and the song unites her and Shane in a really nice scene. At the end, they break in the "We're All In This Together" equivalent "We Rock". The story dripped in cheese and lacked any real substance, even with the Disney-typical "be yourself" theme. There wasn't much else to take away from the story, which was very disappointing. They could've elaborated more on the Shane wanting to expand his sound past the "stupid cookie-cutter popstar stuff" his label wants, but it stalled; another pot hole. It was if Disney was determined to make this film as uncomplicated as possible (maybe they're saving the real deepness for HSM 3?), not realizing how deeply affected the film. I'm not sure even the most die-hard JB fan would watch the film in film more than its three premieres.

SONGS
The most important part of Camp Rock was the music. There were a lot of songs, with a surprising variety of singers. First there was "Who I Will Be", song by Mitchie. I didn't real pay much attention to the song, since it was during the opening credits, plus there were more important songs she would sing. From the Jonas Brothers/Connect Three, there was "Play My Music", the song that was inspired by Mitchie's song. I can't call Disney crap on this one, it was actually pretty good. I was impressed, and when it comes to them and Disney, it takes a lot to get a positive reaction from me. it's the only song that could be released as a single unrelated to the movie. Shane's solo "Gotta Find You" will surely set JB lovers' iPods on fire for the next few months, thanks to a passionate delivery by Joe. "Too Cool", Tess' bitchy song was terrible, vocally and lyrically. Peggy's breakout song "Here I Am" was very nice, although her terrible pretend guitar playing was distracting.

Then, there was Mitchie's big song "This Is Me", which toward the end became a duet with Shane (a la Breaking Free from HSM). Demi Lovato's voice was fantastic in this song, although there were parts where I felt she was holding back. She definitely held her own against the Jonas, and their voices blended together extremely well. Yeah, the lyrics are a bit corny, but if you push that aside, it's actually a great song, best of the album.

OVERALL
With all of the hype surrounding the film, I was expecting something really good. Let's just say it fell below my expectations. Given the opportunity to make a really nice film to introduce two of Disney's rising talents (less JB, since they're already huge), they decided to pull out a predictable storyline with little substance or relevance to anything. Although some of the songs were nice and the acting was bearable, it couldn't outweigh the sher mediocrity of the movie. It's a shame really, considering how talented Demi Lovato is and how much money the Jonas Brothers have made Disney, you would think they would give them something to sink their teeth into. Oh well, considering a Camp Rock sequel is already in the works, maybe Disney will actually do it right.

WORST: Vanessa Hudgens' "Sneakernight"

There have been some stupid concepts for songs before, but I think a song about sneakers pretty much takes the cake.

Vanessa Hudgens, who plays Gabriella in the extremely successful High School Musical movies, is continuing with her singing career after a dismal first record.

Before, she was just boring,

Now, she is just terrible beyond belief.

What were the execs at Hollywood Records thinking letting this stinking piece of crap out?

Just about everything in this song is bad, the music, the lyrics (about SNEAKERS!!), the singing, and the video (since when did squeaky clean Gabriella become all hip?).

Although I would suggest saving your eyes and ears, here it is:

Disney's 9 Most Racist Characters

Damn, I wish I came up with this list!

Some genius decided to put together 9 of Disney's most racially insensitive cartoon characters. Save for Sebastian from The Little Mermaid and the crows from Dumbo, I am not familiar with any of these characters, which I am sure Disney is happy about. The legendary brand has long since been accused of racism and sexual undertones for years. It probably explains why they are so politically correct now (HSM's We're All In This Together, anyone?).

Download of the Day 6/15: "7 Things" by Miley Cyrus

I'm going to a special kind of hell.

I'm going to music hell, because I broke a cardinal role for any serious lover of music.

I don't hate "7 Things" by Miley Cyrus.

In fact, its the best song she has put out (not that its saying much).

After the inescapable "See You Again", Miley decided to switch things up just a bit for the release of her second solo album, Breakout. She continues with her attempt to break from the typical sound of cheesy, teenybopper pop. Instead, she tries her hand at a more complex musical composition.

Miley does something surprising with this song. During the verses, the music is guitar-driven, mellow, softer, reminiscent of Natalie Umbruglia's amazing "Torn". It even has a touch of country, an obvious influence being her father Billy Ray. Its this part of the song I enjoy the most. It suits her voice better and is much less annoying than anything she's put out in the past. If the entire song was based off of this sound, it would've been so much better.

However, that's not the case. Instead, she jumps into the chorus with that annoying-as-hell tween rock thing she's been cultivating with her TV role. It's very frantic, both vocally and musically, as Miley rushes through why she hates her ex. By the end of the chorus, though, she returns to the mellower part as she sings "You make me love you".

Lyrically, its a clever song, maybe even touching in a weird way. Unlike many Disney songs, it is sincere without being corny. The lyrics are also not ridiculous and childish, like "See You Again" and Vanessa Hudgens' deadful "Sneakernight". When you listen to the words of the chorus, you may not want to admit it, but you will find yourself identifying with at 4 of the 7 "things", especially the last one.

Although Miley still isn't the greatest singer on the planet, her voice is definitely sounding more mature, while maintaining that confidence and charisma that helped put her on the map. Her delivery is far more sophisticated, changing from soft and sympathetic to hard and kick-ass when the song requires it.

So fine, I admit. "7 Things" isn't dreadful. In fact, its pretty damn good for the extremely annoying, tabloid-filling, racy picture-taking Disney cash cow. It is the best song she has ever released, hands down, and its one of the best songs coming from her generation (including the aformentioned Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, and Jonas Brothers). If Miley were to follow the path with this sound and type of music, she might actually outlast her expected 3-year expiration date.

Now if only the tween could keep her clothes on long enough.

Song Review: "We Rock" by the Camp Rock Cast

What light, fluffy, music film would be complete without a REALLY cheesy ending song?

High School Musical had the corny yet infectious "We're All In This Together". Grease had the great "We Go Together".

What does Camp Rock have?

"We Rock".

Therein lies my biggest problem with this song. With HSM, their ending song never pretended to be anything more than a cheesy Disney pop song about unity and dreams. With Camp Rock, their song title implies something edgier and cooler. I mean, it does feature the Jonas Brothers, the tween answer to Bon Jovi, right?

Wrong.

Save for some drums and guitar (I'm assuming provided by older Jonas Kevin), the song is ridiculously similar to "We're All In This Together". It's about following your dreams, being yourself, all of those Disney sentiments that make listening to any of their songs nearly impossible, unless you are under the age of 16. Don't get me wrong; I do enjoy sappy, sometimes cheesy music, but there is something so annoying about it, even if they are being sincere. At least with many of my favorite corny songs, the sentiments are layered in metaphors. With this song, it is so obvious that you can't help roll your eyes whenever they sing about how no one will bring them down (it's an actual lyric). Maybe if the song was more complex (both lyrically and musically), it would be a great song. Then again, Disney wants their songs to be simple enough for the kids to get, so that's a lost cause. Still, it couldn't have been impossible to let the Jonas Brothers tweak with the song a little bit to make it more, I don't know, better.

The saving grace of this song is Demi Lovato, the girl who co-stars with the mega-popular Jonas Brothers. Unlike Vanessa Hudgens, and Ashley Tisdale before her, Demi has a very strong voice. It really comes to life in the climax, where she pulls some vocal power notes never really heard on a Disney soundtrack. Like Miley Cyrus, she sings with the same kind of enthusiasm that will make Hannah Montana a billionaire brand. Essentially, Demi Lovato is the best thing to happen to Disney since, ironically, the Jonas Brothers.

To be honest, the song isn't very good. It lacks the innocence of "We're All In This Together" because of the rock tinge and misses the boat on being a great pop/rock song because of the elementary lyrics. That being said, the song is a nice intro for Demi, who I'm sure will be a pretty big music success for Disney.

OMFG! Hugh Hefner Wants Miley Cyrus in Playboy!

The ick statutory factor has just been increased 30-fold!

The infamous Hugh Hefner, the head of Playboy, has told TV show Extra that he wants Miley Cyrus to pose for the magazine when she becomes legal!

He told Extra, “Sure, she’d be welcomed in the magazine. Very pretty lady. And I think to make such a big to do over something as innocent as those photos, I think is a reflection on how schizophrenic America is about sexuality."

The shocking (and gross) invitation comes off the heels of Miley's career-changing semi-nude photo spread in Vanity Fair.

OK, Hefner is like 100 years old, and yet he is thinking of a 15-year old as nude centerfold?! That is so freaking gross! I mean, the octogenarian has 5 girlfriends; isn't that enough without a tween pop star!

Disney Channel to Vanity Fair: You Manipulated Miley!

Disney Channel has finally spoken about the brewing Miley Cyrus nude photo scandal in Vanity Fair, and they are blaming the magazine!

In a statement released, Disney said, "Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines."

The teen queen apologized for the shocking photos, claiming that after seeing them, she is embarrassed to have ever taken them.

Disney seems to be standing by their little breadwinner; the New York Post reported that by the time she is 18 years old (when taking the picture would've been appropriate, by the way), she would be worth $1 billion. Imagine how much Disney is getting?

Its quite admirable to stand by Miley during a really embarrassing time, but it seems like Disney Channel is acting like a petulant teenager by putting the blame solely on the magazine. If anything, they should acknowledge the role both Miley and her parents played in the photo shoot.

The Jonas Brothers Tackle Diabetes In New Album

Girls, proceed to scream, squeal, and tear up.

The Jonas Brothers, arguably the biggest boy band on the planet right now, have revealed the name of the upcoming album that the "Burning Up" tour will support.

A Little Bit Longer, the band's third album, will be released on August 12th. The album title comes from the song "A Little Bit Longer", which Nick Jonas wrote about his struggle with diabetes.

The youngest brother of the band revealed he was a Type 1 diabetic in March 2007 during a benefit to support the illness. In order to help him manage the insulin-dependent disease, he uses the OmniPod insulin delivery system.

As a diabetic myself, I am very interested in how Nick will detail his experience in song. I am expecting a heartfelt ballad; a boisterous, teenybopper jam would seem a bit inappropriate (unless that's inspirational too). It takes a lot of maturity, courage, and strength to tackle something like that head on, and for that, he has my respect. When I found out he had the disease, it was shocking, considering the schedule he is able to maintain. Touring, recording, and promoting takes a lot of time and energy, and the fact that Nick is able to properly handle diabetes is truly astounding. If he and his seemingly responsible brothers are supposed to be role models for kids, then I definitely support it. Considering who the role models used to be (coughBritneycough), it is definitely a nice change of pace.

I'll probably never really like their music (I may give their album a chance), but they do have my respect.

For those who LOVE them, remember the Burning Up tour kicks off in Toronto, Canada on July 4th. The tour swings by NYC on August 10th at Madison Square Garden. Considering the response, the tour is probably sold out.

Disney Channel/Jonas Brothers TV Movie Revealed!

The official trailer of the new Disney Channel movie starring the Jonas Brothers, Camp Rock, has been released today. For those who don't believe in the success of the Jonas Brothers, the trailer has received over 60,000 views and has been favorited 2,8000 times on YouTube. That is absolutely INSANE!

Those numbers indicate that this will probably be the most successful Disney Channel movie in history, knocking High School Musical 2 off the spot. It's fitting too. Camp Rock is pretty much a HSM knockoff; just featuring the biggest teen band in the world. It follows the tried-and true method of mixing music with morals, not necessarily a bad thing, but very adolescent and annoying. Then again, the film is on the Disney Channel, so I'm probably over-analyzing it. Anyway, the movie will premiere on Disney Channel on June 20th.
