Girls Aloud have reason to celebrate today, after debuting at the top of the UK Singles Chart this week with "The Promise". It is their first number one since "Walk This Way" with the Sugababes, their first solo number one since "I Stand by You" in 2004, and their first non-charity number one since their debut "Sound of the Underground".
Falling from #1 to #2 this week is Pink's "So What", which spent three weeks at the top.
In the many songs falling out of the top 10, the most notable was Leon Jackson, whose single "Don't Call This Love" fell from #3 to #11, still one spot behind X Factor spoof single "The Winners Song" by Geraldine McQueen, who falls to #10 this week.
The Saturdays hold pretty firm this week, only falling to #6 from their debut of #5.
