Song Review: Jennifer Hudson's Dressed Up in Love

image In two weeks, women across the country will storm the theaters to see their favorite foursome, Carrie, Samantha, Charlottle, and Miranda, drink Cosmopolitans, get married (or almost) and have lots of sex (or at least Samantha). During that film, they will most likely hear this little ditty by co-star Jennifer Hudson.

The Oscar-winner hasn't done much musically since Dreamgirls. Her debut album has a November release, so this song will have to do for all of her fans.

Speaking of Dreamgirls, this song could've been on that soundtrack too. It's a very retro, old-fashioned song; something you would hear sung by Shirley Bassey or Nancy Sinatra. That doesn't mean its a bad song, because its a pretty good song with some nice lyrics about love being an outfit. It's just a song that has to grow on you, like it did me. Unfortunately, thanks to the fast-paced music industry of late, her song wouldn't be given a real chance to blow up. Then again, really good songs should take off instantly.

Clive Davis really needs to get Jennifer some nicer, younger material, because of this is what her new album will consist of, then J-Hud should stick with acting.

Rating: 6/10
