Desperate Housewives: It's Ice Cold on Wisteria Lane

It may be mid-spring, but on last night's Desperate Housewives, it was like a snowstorm during winter.

Kayla, Tom's bastard child and the pain in Lynette's side, just revealed a much darker side than we've ever seen. During a routine-yet-forced mother-daughter shopping trip, Kayla demanded a corn dog. When Lynette refused, Kayla threatened to manipulate Penny to do something dangerous, like she did when she convinced Preston to jump off the roof. Shocked, Lynette slapped her demon step-daughter. Unbeknownst to Lynette, she just gave Kayla some serious dynamite; on Mother's Day, while the rest of the kids were celebrating with Lynette, Kayla was calling the family therapist, accusing her of repeated child abuse. Now, there is rebelling, and then there is evil. That little girl puts a whole new definition on the phrase "demon seed".

Bree v.s. Edie launched this week, beginning with a bitch slap, and ending with a departure. During an argument, Bree slapped Edie in the face after Edie called her a bitch. In retaliation for Edie's courting of her husband, Bree sabotaged her real estate clients, telling them of her husband-stealing ways. Edie, wanting to save her career, went to Orson to find some help. What she found was the details of baby Benjamin's true paternity. In a really amazing scene (the look on Marcia Cross' face was bone-chilling), Edie blackmailed Bree with the information and "bury" her.

Unfortunately for Edie, Bree is too smart to fall for that. She immediately revealed to her friends. I was a bit disappointed by the reveal, though. Last season, they made a pact to never keep secrets from each other, and last time I checked, raising your daughter's baby as your own is a pretty big one. I guess they united over their mutual hate for Edie. They officially froze her out, and in response, Edie left town to visit her son. The question is, will she return?

In a smaller, less interesting story, Mike's southern mom came to town. Almost instantly, she began berating Susan (according to her, Susan's only talent is in the sack). One thing I found particularly hilarious was when she referred to the Civil War as "northern aggression". During Mike's talk with mommy, Susan went into labor and gave birth to a baby boy.

I am really looking forward to the two-hour season finale, especially to see what happen to Kayla and Lynette. If anyone needs military school, its that little witch.
