News of Jeff Archuleta's micro-managing has been widely reported, and the Idol producers are sick of it!
David Archuleta's father has been banned from working with his son backstage as the talent competition winds down. He will still be able to sit in the audience, but any influence Jeff has on David's song choices, arrangements, or anything else has been stripped.
The decision came after Jeff insisted David sing a verse from Sean Kingston monster hit "Beautiful Girls". The extra lyrics forced the producers to pay more money to the record company than initially planned.
Jeff Archuleta's antics were first reported when he unintentionally sabotaged his son's performance during the first week of the Top 12. During rehearsals, he allegedly screamed at David, bringing him to tears. It is believed that is why he delivered his painful, lyrically-challenged performance of "We Can Work It Out" for the first Beatles week. Naomi Judd, who was once a judge on "Star Search" while David was competing, has also called out Jeff has a stage dad from hell. His behavior was so outlandish that he had to be placed in a security guard's box. Reports also claim that he harassed Tiffany Evans, who won Star Search with phone calls, among other things.
I'm, for one, glad he is banned. Any parent who would drive a kid, already stressed at from the daily Idol grind, to tears is despicable. Hopefully, it won't derail Archuleta's current and future success.
