Download of the Day 4/04: "Nothin' But Love" by Whitney Houston

Pop legend Whitney Houston performing at her "Nothin' But Love" world tour, named after her new single.

Although she is most famous for her excellence in pop balladry, Whitney Houston has been prone to releasing some hot dance tracks in her day. Amongst her best are "I'm Every Woman", "It's Not Right But It's Okay", and the deliciously cheesy 80's classic "I Wanna Dance With Somebody". Add to that list "Nothin' But Love", the third single from Whitney's comeback record I Look To You.

"Nothin' But Love" is the perfect case of current trends being applied with an adult sensibility. Well into her 40's, Whitney is singing about the people in her life, good and bad, and how she has nothing but love for them (hence the title), all over a fresh, techno beat. In her inimitable Whitney style, she sings full of passion and fire, maybe even more so to compensate for the obvious changes to her gold-plated pipes. Even with the handicap, she is one of the best female vocalists on the scene, and with the amount of confidence in her voice, I think she knows it too.

The song is currently slated for release in the UK only tomorrow, just in time for the European leg of her world tour, but the song can be purchased on iTunes, alongside the rest of her album.

Brandon says: 8/10 (Download it)
