A few years ago, if I had created a blog and had the BWU Hot 40, Jason Mraz's "The Remedy" would probably have been #1 for a month.
Since that pop gem set my radio on fire years ago, there hasn't been a song of his that truly caught my attention. Then, he releases "I'm Yours". The song, from his latest album We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things, is much different than anything he has released and different than anything that's on the radio now. The song is a laid back groove, complete with Caribbean influences. He even tries for an accent during some of the verses (it's better than Mariah's accent on Cruise Control, though that's not saying much).
Now, I love passion and intensity in my music, but there are times when I seriously don't mind a smooth song on my way home. The song is absolutely perfect for that.
Once again, Jason Mraz proves that he is one of pop music's more versatile and eclectic artists. I definitely think that this song, like "Remedy" will remind people of that fact.
