Usher to World: I'm A Man Now, Leave My Wife Alone

On the release week of his album Here I Stand, Usher has finally addressed the most controversial topic in his life; his wife Tameka Foster.

Usher, whose newest record focuses primarily on his marriage and the birth of his son, Usher Raymond V, has told the public that he is no longer the player that sang about groupies, cheating, and unplanned pregnancies on his last record, the Diamond-selling Confessions.

He has also questioned people's reaction to his marriage to stylist Tameka Foster, who has been met with a lot of media scrutiny. In a post on MediaTakeOut.com, friends of Tameka believe she is near a meltdown.

"I'm a guy that decided to marry a woman -- a black woman -- that wasn't perfect, that had flaws, that through all in all, she's been successful on her own. ... and that's a bad thing. I decided to marry this woman, then I decide to be a father to my child," he said in an interview. "And that's a bad thing. It's not like I got caught with a gram of coke in my car or speeding or was caught for murder, so why would I be ridiculed, that's why I don't understand -- that's the part that is mind boggling. Why would I be ridiculed for that, even a year later."

Yesterday, on TRL, he blasted rumors about his wife: "Matter of fact, I'm tired of people continuing to talk so much trash about me. ... My wife is not 40 years old. I love her to death and I'm a black, strong man in America standing up for my people—as a man to my wife, to my son, to my family."

I'm not a wild fan of Tameka Foster, but I commend Usher for defending his wife. I also think people should lay off them. People were all over Usher's ass when he cheated on Chili, so he should be given some respect for finally growing up.
