I love reading fan fiction.
Fan fiction, for me, is a valuable extension of whatever show or movie I'm watching. It is a rich cove of "what ifs", and as a person who relishes in writing and reading, fan fiction is the perfect aid to the work it's based off of.
So, in honor of my fan fiction love, I've decided to start a new post series called "Fantastic Fan Fiction". These posts will highlight the fan fiction I have been loving lately.
I read all kinds of stories from television shows and movies. However, with the Top 25 Anime Characters feature coming up this week, I thought starting off with an anime fan fic would be the right way to go.
The first story featured is a Dragon Ball Z fan fiction called "A Stowaway From The Heart", by Anorelei at fanfiction.net.
The story is an AU (alternate universe) about Videl being kidnapped by the Saiyans attacking Earth for study, by none other than Gohan. The story tracks their relationship, evolving from hate to love. While the romance is the primary component of the story, there are a lot of elements that flesh it out to make a whole universe onto itself. There is political intrigue, action, and a richly complicated backstory that could make for as many stories as the author could stand. Plus, there are quite a few surprises that even kept me on my toes.
It is currently a work in progress, but the author updates very quickly, and it adds to the anticipation for the next chapter. I really recommend sitting down and reading it the whole way through. You won't be disappointed.
