It's been awhile since Adam Levine and company have graced the music world with their presence, huh?
Anyone who's been chomping at the bit for a new Maroon 5 record can count their blessing today; the pop/rock band have released "Misery", the first single off their upcoming album.
From the sounds of the new single, the band, whose last album was released to much fanfare back in 2006, hasn't deviated much from their signature sound. In fact, "Misery" is a pretty good cross between their #1 single "Makes Me Wonder" and their classic "This Love". Of course, both of those songs are over four years old, which kind of makes their new single a bit dated in comparison. It could've easily been a track on It Won't Be Soon Before Long. But who said that was a bad thing? "Misery" has brought back the funky alt- pop grooves that we've come to expect and appreciate from the group. It's a lot more light-hearted and fun than we've seen from them before, which is a nice surprise. Levine hasn't lost a bit of his vocal appeal, remaining one of the most unique voices in pop right now. He does a great job with the song, sounding even a playful as he sings about getting his lover back.
"Misery" is an awesome song for summer, and shows that, even with the curse of time, they still have it.
