Download of the Day 4/27: "Hands Tied" by Toni Braxton

Fifteen years ago, Toni Braxton rose temperatures with her sexy, smoky voice and the scintillating number-one smash "You're Makin' Me High".

A lot has happened since then, including two flop albums, but she's ready to take back her role as queen of the bedroom with her new single "Hands Tied".

Granted, her new single from the upcoming LP Pulse is not as scorching as her 1995 classic. The song is very restrained and refined, but there is a smoldering, seductive quality that comes from the pairing of her inimitable vocals and the mix of twinkling piano, pulsing R&B beats, and the light strain of electric guitar. Of course, the suggestive title adds to the allure, but the song's slick, stylized feel is it's most attractive element. Lyrically, it's also very impressive, being about proving to someone how in love they really are with them. Braxton, always a master of interpretation, conveys a sense of both defiance and desperation as she assures her lover that she could love them "with one hand tied behind her back". As twisted as it sounds, the opposing emotions make the song even sexier.

Even though she's 42, Toni Braxton didn't have to remind us how sexy she can be. But it doesn't hurt to have a refresher course, and "Hands Tied" is just that.
