Download of the Day 4/10: "Breakeven (Falling to Pieces)" by The Script

There is a incorrect belief that women are the only ones who are left completely devastated by the end of relationships, while men are on to the next one.

This song is out to disprove that.

Irish rock band The Script have revealed the inner workings of a man's broken heart with "Breakeven (Falling to Pieces)". It's a Jason Mraz-styled ditty about the struggles that follow a break-up, and how unequal the healing process can be (even for a guy). It's a simple soft-rock guitar ditty, but the gold lies with the lyrics and the lead singer's vocals. Guys and girls can both relate to the words of the song, especially the killer line "What I am supposed to do when the best part of me was always you?" The lead singer is definitely Ireland's answer to James Morrison, with a voice drenched in enough soul to wail mournfully over the desperate and emotional chorus. Overall, the song effectively and maturely deals with relationships, while also confirming that men have feelings too, as hard as they are to access and understand.

Brandon says: 9/10 (iTunes it. Now)
