BWU Hot 40: Leona Breaks Record, New Certification Rules

On this week's BWU Hot 40, Leona Lewis breaks the record for most weeks at #1 with her single "Better In Time". The song spends its third week at the top, breaking a three-way tie with Rihanna's "Disturbia" and Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl".

Speaking of "Disturbia", the the two-time chart-topper continues its climb up the chart, moving up one spot to #3. The song rebounded last week from an all-time of #8. With the new chart rules, "Disturbia" is currently 2x Platinum with 185 points. Rihanna is currently the dominator of the chart; she has three songs on the top 10. "Take a Bow" hits a new peak of #5 (making Rihanna the second artist to have two singles in the top 5) and "If I Never See Your Face Again" with Maroon 5 hits a new peak of #9.

"I Kissed a Girl" is also double platinum, with 179 points, but fell another spot down to #4. Katy Perry's other song, "Hot N Cold", falls from the top 10, to a new low of #11. Jonas Brothers hold steady at #7 with "Burnin' Up", while Lil' Wayne continues to climb with "A Milli", which peaks at #8. His top 3 single "Lollipop" falls 18 spots from #17 to #35, one of the largest drops in chart history.

Madonna, Mariah, and Girls Aloud all make big leaps into the top 20 this week. Madge's "Give It 2 Me" hits #13, "Can't Speak French" hits #15, and Mariah's "I'll Be Lovin U Long Time" jumps 14 places to #16.

The highest debut of the week goes to September's "Cry For You", which charts at #20.

In order to match the BWU Hot 40, new certification rules have been made. A song with 40 points is certified gold, a song with 80 points is certified platinum, and a song with 20 points is certified silver.
