The Dark Knight has broken the opening day and single day box office record, grossing $66 million Friday. $18 million of that was from 12 am showings. The original record holder was the vastly inferior Spider-Man 3, which brought in $58 million when it was released.
It's expected to break Spidey's other record, highest opening weekend gross.
