It seems like America isn't ready for two international divas at the same time.
While Leona Lewis is expected to hit the top of next week's chart with an astonishing 200,000 sales debut, Kylie Minogue's fantastic new album X has utterly flopped in the US. The album, which has been an international success, debuted at a shockingly low #139 on the charts, barely selling 10,000 copies.
Despite appearances on The Today Show, Ellen, and Dancing with the Stars, American buyers really weren't interested and left the album alone. It begs the question, why?
Was it the single? She chose "All I See". Its a great song, but compared to the previous international singles "Wow" and "2 Hearts", it really does pale in comparison. Maybe people felt the song didn't warrant buying the album?
Was it the promotion? Although she went on what could be called a media blitz, it still seemed pretty hard to find Kylie anywhere. In fact, I really only saw her on Today and Idol Gives Back. Maybe Kylie could get on AI before the season's over?
Whatever the reason, its really sad, because X is an amazing album that doesn't deserve to be so overlooked. If you haven't I recommend picking up a copy.
