Mark Schwan Is A Genius! OTH 3/4 Episode

When I'm watching TV shows, I watch them from two perspectives:

The fan of the show and the writer's perspective of the show.

This made watching tonight One Tree Hill a complete and utter head trip.

From a fan's perspective, I was absolutely furious! Nathan and Haley are on the fast track to a divorce, Rachel ODs on heroin, the new bartender guy is an ex-druggie, Jamie says he wishes Nanny "megaslut" Carrie was his mother and he nearly drowns, and finally, Dan is up for parole!

It was an intense episode, to say the least.

From a writer's perspective, Mark Schwan, the executive producer, has proven his genius with tonight's episode.

He did what Beverly Hills 90210, The O.C., Saved By The Bell, and many other teen programs have failed to do: successfully bring teenagers into adulthood. By deciding to skip out on the college year trap, he reinvigorated a series that, according to all previous experiences, was doomed to fail.

Dare I say it, this season is the best season OTH has ever had, and this episode is definitely in the Top 10 of all time episodes. It was truly a rollercoaster, which made it that more enjoyable to watch!

Best:
Haley telling Nanny "megaslut" Carrie off, TWICE!
The dramatic (and drug-fueled) return of Rachel Gatina, Tree Hill's favorite tramp
Owen revealing his past drug addiction
Lucas' speech at Dan's parole hearing
Peyton's label getting national distribution through the mean record label guy's label

Worst:
Nathan v.s. Haley, the entire episode
Nanny Carrie telling Jamie "I wish you were my son" (Crazy!!!!)
Nathan and Carrie in the shower
Nathan being a complete idiot the whole damn show
Jamie drowning (I was seriously stunned silent the whole last minute of the show)
Jamie saying "I wish Nanny Carrie was my mom"
Brooke not taking Rachel to rehab
Dan (potentially) getting parole
The landmark of Season 5: Haley says "This marriage is over. I want a divorce"

Yes, this ep was indeed crazy. I was shocked during the last minute or so as well. I must say that is one of the better eps of the show I've seen so far. As a matter of fact, this season just gets better and better. I wonder how they will top this one.
