Nintendo Announces Pokémon X and Y for Nintendo 3DS, Simultaneous Worldwide Release in October!

This morning, Nintendo made a huge announcement: a new generation of Pokémon has begun!

Pokémon X and Y will mark the sixth generation of the incredibly popular video game series, featuring a brand new set of starter and legendary Pokémon. Nintendo released a teaser trailer, which revealed the names of the new starters and the images of the legendaries who will appear to be the mascots of the games.

This generation will be the first exclusive for the Nintendo 3DS, and appears to have completely new 3D graphics and a redesigned approach to the classic "gotta catch 'em all" motif. Also, in a completely shocking turn, the games will be released worldwide simultaneously in October of this year. This would be the first time in the series's near 20 year history that there would be no gap between the Japanese and global release schedule.
