Why is Ke$ha flopping tremendously worldwide?

File:Kesha Warrior.jpegIs this signaling the beginning of the end of mindless dance-pop music in the mainstream?

It certainly looks like it, as the genre's de facto leader Ke$ha is experiencing some truly dismal sales throughout the world. Yesterday, her album came in at a shocking #66 on the UK album charts, while her single "Die Young" sits at #7 on the singles chart. In Germany, her album debuted even worse, coming in at #81.

Yes, she's missing the top 50 altogether,

While the numbers won't be solidified until tomorrow, Ke$ha will most likely miss a Top 5 placement on the Billboard 200, despite "Die Young" being played incessantly on the radio and peaking at #2 on the singles chart. Music trade publication Hits Daily Double has her bowing at 90,000 copies, which is paltry compared to the 152,000 copies she opened with when she released her #1 debut Animal.

So, what does this mean? Is the mainstream getting tired of EDM ruling the airwaves, and Ke$ha is the first victim? Or did she fail to promote the album enough? Stay tuned!
