Amazon is launching a full-out assault against iTunes, using Lady Gaga as its huge, egg-shaped vessel.
The online retail giant has dropped the price of Born This Way again to 99 cents, repeating their industry-shocking decision from Monday. With the purchase of the album, the buyer will also receive a free upgrade of 20GB of storage from Amazon's Cloud Drive service. The promotion was only supposed to last one day, but the astonishing success has clearly changed Amazon's mind on the matter. The promotion, according to the website, will end today.
It should be noted that this was a decision made my Amazon, not Gaga or her record label Interscope. The Wall Street Journal has confirmed that Amazon has paid the wholesale price of the album, approximately $9, which allowed the right to offer the album for such an incredibly low price.
No doubt this could potentially influence the first-week projections for Gaga's album, which now stand at 900K from Hits Daily Double.
If you are a frugal Lady Gaga fan, I suggest you pop on over to Amazon RIGHT NOW and get this deal before it's too late. Or, head over to my Twitter and retweet my #gagaclaus post to get it gifted, from me! Hurry though, it won't last long, either deal!
