BRIT Awards 2009 MegaPost: Girls Aloud, Duffy Reign; Pet Shop Boys Honored

It's about damn time!

Not my words, but the words of Sarah Harding.

UK national treasures/girl group Girls Aloud have won their first ever BRIT Award. The five-piece took home Best British Single, for their #1 smash "The Promise". The girls were also nominated for Best Group. They beat out other contenders Duffy, Coldplay, and Leona Lewis to take home the award voted for by the public.



The girls performed their BRIT-winning hit "The Promise" live at the ceremony, which was hosted by Kylie Minogue.



The big winner of the night was Duffy, who took home British Album, Breakthrough Act and Solo Female, beating Adele in the latter categories.

The Pet Shop Boys were given the Outstanding Contribution to Music award, and they performed a greatest hits medley with special guests Lady GaGa and Brandon Flowers.



Other performers included Take That, Coldplay, and a collaboration between The Ting Tings and Estelle:
