In celebration of the holidays, I will be doing special holiday editions of my "Download of the Day" posts.
To kick it off, I chose one of the best Christmas songs ever; Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas For You".
Mariah took the traditional style of holiday music and turned it on its ear with her massive 1994 "Merry Christmas" album. The cherry on top was "All I Want For Christmas Is You", an upbeat, 60s style pop treat. Mariah, at her peak, sounds lively and energetic as she sings about wanting her lover more than Christmas presents. The song is a shot in the arm for any dead holiday party, quickly livening it up with a Motown-like hyper groove and even some jingling bells. That, and of course Mariah's brilliant voice, easily make this song the feel-good Christmas song of all time. Anyone who doesn't tap their shoes to this classic clearly got some coal underneath their Christmas tree.
