Bob Dylan's simple masterpiece "Make You Feel My Love" has been covered by everyone from Billy Joel to Kelly Clarkson. This week, Adele takes a stab at it when her version is released on CD in the UK.
Adele, as always, delivers an absolutely stirring vocal, revitalizing a decades old song with the soul we come to expect from the young Brit. Backed by a piano and a violin, Adele injects the song with her special kind of sorrowful soul, reminiscent of Billie Holiday. Her voice is mixed with passion, desperation, and lament, perfectly interpreting Dylan's lyrics. Even when she reaches the higher notes with that huge voice of hers, she never loses that emotional connection that has made her one of the artists to watch on both sides of the pond.
The 4th single from Adele's album 19 is available in UK shops now. The album is also available on both sides of the Atlantic now.
