The Dark Knight: Three Weeks At The Top

For the third week in a row, The Dark Knight has topped the box office weekend chart, knocking expected #1 The Mummy 3 to second place. Batman and pals brought in an estimated $43 million this weekend, coming in second place to Spider-Man for all-time third weekends. The movie has now brought in over $394 million in only three weeks, making one of the fastest grossing movies in history. It's currently in eighth place for the highest gross movies in the United States, and industry insiders are suggesting that, at this pace, the movie could surpass Titanic as the highest grossing movie in the US.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor brought in $42 million this weekend, which is quite good considering the terrible reviews that surrounded the film. it was expected, however, to bring in at least $50 million. At #3 is the Will Ferrell film Step Brothers, and at #4 is Mamma Mia.
