As proven time and time again, controversy sells.
Nas' album Untitled debuts at #1 this week on the Billboard album chart, selling 187,000 copies. Nas shocked many people when he revealed the true title of his album, N****r. Opinions of the title were mixed; former enemy Jay-Z praised him, while Jesse Jackson (ironically in his own n-word controversy) criticized it. The album knocked Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III from the top spot. The album, which has had the biggest opening week in 3 years, is nearing 2 million sold.
The Mamma Mia soundtrack skyrocketed to third place after buzz for the movie grew. The soundtrack sold over 91,000 copies this week. Three new albums debuted this week, from John Mellencamp, David Banner, and Taylor Swift.
