It is truly the end of an era.
Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft, has stepped down from the computer giant after nearly 33 years. He created the company with co-founder Paul Allen back in 1975 from his garage. Now, Microsoft is the leader in computer technology, with 90% of computers around the world running Microsoft software.
Gates, who is 52, is retiring to focus full-time on his philanthropic work. His foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, works to end poverty and make education better across the globe.
